Welcome to the first Kiki Art design team blog hop, which we like to call a BLOG HOPSCOTCH! It will run during National Scrapbook Day weekend from Thursday, April 29th until Monday, May 3rd. Happy Box

It’s time for a new Sizzix blog hop! This time our challenge was to design a rectangular box. Every time I design one of Eileen’s Dies I simply can’t wipe the smile of my face. They are so cute, and so much fun to play with. I love boxes, especially if they’re small and I can put cute little things in them. I knew exactly what to do with this box. It will be my HAPPY BOX, where I can put things that make me happy. First I covered the box with an amazing K&Company’s vintage patterned paper. Then I decided to try something I have never tried before. I wanted to challenge myself, so I sewed flowers from fabric and ribbon, and attached them to the box. I managed to give them a little bit of a sculpted look. I cut the leaves from Mesh and paper and gave them a little wave for a dimensional look. If you enjoyed seeing these ScoreBoard projects on the hop, …

Design Team Memeber

During the last CHA show I met Kiki, a very nice lady from Canada who owns KikiArt. Her company is based in Montreal and influenced by the many cultures, languages and stories in the city. I was so honored when Kiki asked me to join her international design team. My first design as a designer team member was this cute layout that was posted in the KikiArt blog. This layout tells the story of PURIM, a Jewish holiday celebrated on March. This is a holiday celebrating the miraculous saving of the Jewish people from annihilation, by the Persian Empire in the 4th century BCE. The story is told in the biblical book of Esther. It is the only book in the bible that does not mention the name of God and all his work is done by others. That is why one of the customs of the holiday is to wear costumes, to be someone else (like God in the …

A recipe for…

I am a big fan of recyceling. I love altered art and the fact that you can take something and turn it to something completly different. Every week I throw the milk carton and think to my self, if only I could do something with it…  and then I thought of a great ides: A recipe box! I will turn the milk carton to a special place for my recipes.  All the recipes will be written on cards and they will be organized, standing up right, in the box.  After I washed it I covered it with paper. I cut the box on three sides, leaving the back intact. Keeping it closed was tricky, I wanted it to be nice but strong, so I decided to use a ribbon that can be tied and opened. The only question was how to connect the ribbon to both sides.                                                                       For the bottom part I used a chipboard tag and for the upper part I used …

Scroll down to the end of the post to find the links and start hopping from blog to blog!   This blog hop is not only fun for us designers, it is fun for you too, because there are prizes!  one prize will go to the designer and the other will go to one lucky reader! All you have to do is vote on Eileen’s blog for your favorite project, and leave a comment on one of the participating blog to be eligible to win a ScoreBoard Die from the first collection. Voting ends on Monday the following the Wednesday hop at 6 PM. This week we designed the Teacup Die. A cute 3D tea cup, with a littla tray. As …
