Ann Butler Design – ETI Blog Hop

Welcome to the Ann Butler Design ETI Blog Hop. I’m so excited to be part of really talented designers who got to play, like me, with Ann Butler products and ETI amazing resins. This project was so fun to make and I hope you’ll be inspired to try it too.   Ann Butler Design ETI Blog Hop Project Spring is in the air so I have a lot of flowery inspiration. I created a little canvas with flowers to brighten my wall and mood. To create the flowers I used ETI Easy Sculpt Epoxy Modeling Clay. This is an amazing material that is self hardening and can be adhered to anything. Please USE Gloves when handling the material. You mix two equal parts of each material to create the clay. The fun thing is you can add color or pigment to it, or you can paint it when it’s dry. I added Ann Butler’s Iridescents to the clay and got …

The Principles of Design

The principles of design are the basic ways to implement the 7 elements of design we talked about in the last post. This post is all about the 9 principles of design or in other words how to use these elements or tools to create art. Basically once you know what elements you need to create your art piece or design the next thing is how to actually implement them on a canvas, scrapbook layout or art journal page.    Principles of Design Pattern An arrangement of alternating or repeated elements like lines, color or shapes. This refers to a series of stamped circles or a plaid paper. In the image of the upside woman the dress has a pattern of lines. Contrast The position of different elements of design such as rough or smooth texture or dark or light values in such a way that will emphasize their differences and/or create a visual interest or a focal point. For example draw …

7 Elements of Design – How to Make Art

You’ll be surprised but there are only 7 elements of design you need to make art. All great art pieces have one or more elements and principles (which will be specified in the next blog post). When you’ll see them outlined in a list you’ll immediately say “this is so obvious” and you’ll be right. But if you think about it this are the building designing blocks for every art work. Elements of Design – How to Make Art Line Every shape has an outline. This is the line you draw or the outline of a white shape with a black border. It can be dotted or broken, straight or diagonal. The line could be narrow or bold and can be applied with a pencil or a brush. Shape Our entire vision world rests on lines and shapes. Our brain always prefers defined shapes so we always have trouble with blurry figures or unclear shapes. Shapes can be flat or …

Metal Embellishment – 5-Minute Craft

5 minute crafts are sometimes exactly what you need to create something easy and fast. Today in 5 minute craft – metal embellishment that you can create for any project. You can turn in into a piece of jewelry by piercing a hole in the bottle cap and add a necklace or by attaching a pin and turning it into a broach. It can be a metal embellishment for a printer’s tray, a mixed media canvas or even a scrapbook layout. The best thing is it takes even under 5 minutes to create it. Metal Embellishment in under 5 Minutes All the supplies I used to create this metal embellishments can be found at craft stores, I got mine at Michael’s. I used beads, bottle caps and other metal pieces I got at the jewelry section. As long as you use metal supplies and not paper you can easily achieve this look. You can also use any findings you might …

Easter Eggs Decoration Ideas Round Up

Do you need some Easter egg decoration ideas? This year Instead of plain pastel Easter eggs check out this creative Easter egg round-up. Some of the ideas are very pretty and some are just plain fun, but all are really easy to make and will definitely make your holiday colorful! It’s never to early to start getting ready for the holiday. As a Jew, I don’t celebrate Easter but I do celebrate Passover. One of this holiday’s customs is cleaning, getting the house ready for the holiday by getting rid of all leavened food (because during Passover you’re supposed to eat only Matzo). I think this is just an excuse for spring cleaning but like I said it’s never to early to start…   Easter eggs decorating ideas Although the marbling technique can get messy, the end result is beautiful and worth it. Marbled Indigo Eggs by Alice and Lois Cover eggs with pieces of tissue paper to dye them and …

Graphic 45 Design Team Audition 2016

I finally got enough courage to enter the Graphic 45 Design Team audition. I’ve been a huge fan of Graphic 45 for a long time and being on the design team have been my dream forever. I finally got the courage during the last CHA Mega show where I took a Graphic 45 class. in that class we had to cover a box with papers and create a top for it and then cover some coasters with papers as well. It was a beautiful project but as you know I’m not a fan of copy paste so I decided to change the project a little and bind the coasters into a mini album and add a few interactive surprises. I was halfway done when the class was over and the Graphic 45 team liked it so much I promised to finish it before the end of the show. On the last day of the show I went to the Graphic …
