How to Create Odd Shape Mini Album Pages

Hi dear crafty friends! Today I’m sharing How to Create Odd Shape Mini Album Pages using my Flip Flop Mini Album as an example. It’s really fun to create mini albums that have pages in different shapes. Shapes that are not squares or rectangles, shapes that are more interesting and unusual like circles or even in a shape of a flip flop.     How to Create Odd Shape Mini Album Pages Here are my tipson How to Create Odd Shape Mini Album Pages 1. Don’t let the shape confuse you Sometimes when you have to create or embellish a page that had an unusual shape you find yourself intimidated or frozen. Because we’re used to working on squares a different shape can be confusing. But don’t let that discourage you! Whatever the shape of the page is limit yourself to it’s boundaries and work within them.     2. Match your embellishments Usually when a page has a different shape …

Divided Art Journal Page

Hi dear crafty friends! I’m sharing my new creation in my art journal: Divided Art Journal Page. As you can probably see the last few pages I created are kind of meaningful and deep, at least for me. I don’t have a problem sharing them with you because I want to show you what art journaling is all about. Divided Art Journal Page I often get asked what is my creative process. So today I want to offer a glimpse into my process. I usually start with an idea of something I feel or want to say. For example in this page I felt divided on an issue in my life. I had conflicting feelings about it. Then I try to visualize that feeling. What images come to my mind when I think about what I wanted to say. In this case I felt like I have two parts so I decided to follow this theme on my page.   …

Altered Mixed Media Tin Box

Hi dear crafty friends! Today I want to share my new Altered Mixed Media Tin Box. The Altered Mixed Media Tin Box was inspired by Lindy’s Stamp Gang August challenge.     Altered Mixed Media Tin Box       I surprisingly used most of the colors of this challenge. I say surprisingly because I usually not a very big fan of pinks and purples but somehow I found myself really enjoying creating this project. I can honestly say I discovered these colors and I’ll definitely be using them in future projects.       Altering a tin box is kind of tricky. I couldn’t simply cover it with gesso or paint it because it will not hold on the metal. First I needed to cover the entire box with gel medium and only after it was dry I covered it with a layer of gesso. Then I added texture with stencils and modeling paste and some little stones. I sprayed …

It’s My Life Mixed Media Canvas

Hi dear crafty friends! Today I’m sharing a new project I created for the More Than Words challenge: It’s My Life Mixed Media Canvas. The subject of the challenge was Harmony and Song Lyrics, which I found not only inspiring but really fun to create.   It’s My Life Mixed Media Canvas First I thought about the word Harmony. What does it say to me, how does it make me feel. Well… for me harmony is when all the pieces fit together. It can be in a small scale when I create something and everything goes great and all the different elements just find their place. Or it can be in a larger scale when all the pieces of my life just fit and coexist comfortably together. I wanted to say all that in my project so I added layers of frames and combined them on one surface, like pieces in a harmonious creation. Once the chipboard background was done …

10 Things to Do with Glycerin in the Craft Room

Hi dear crafty friends! Today I’m sharing 10 Things to Do with Glycerin in the Craft Room. Apparently Glycerin is a very useful material for all kinds of crafty things. It’s really easy to get in your local health food store or even in craft stores. Here are a few things I use it for…   10 Things to Do with Glycerin in the Craft Room The good thing about Glycerin is that it’s almost like a water soluble oil, which is of course impossible but it is. It will not stain your paper or damage your paints and it’s thicker than water so you can use it for so many things. Put some of the Glycerin in a medicine dropper so it’ll be easier to use. 1. Re-inking embossing stamp pads: add a little Glycerin directly on a clear embossing ink pad and it’ll bring it back to life.  2. Create your own pigment ink: mix gouche, which is an opaque …
