101 Flowers Tutorial #13: A bunch of flowers and materials

Today is the first day of spring! Nature is waking up, the sun is shining and the flowers start to bloom. Today’s tutorial is about creating a bunch of blooming flowers from different materials and techniques to brighten a card or a layout. 1.       Cut a window in your card or layout by creating a horizontal H. 2.    Stamp the background and ink the edges. 3.       Add Flower Soft on the lower edge of the window. 4.       Cut small flowers from a scrap of pattern paper and adhere on top of the flower soft. 101 Flower Tutorial #12: mix and match

Flowers and Valentine’s Day definitely go together! So this flower tutorial is all about upgrading your Valentine’s Day flowers. The principal for upgrading any flower is mix and match different materials and adding layers and dimension. I found that using different materials to create one flower is a good way to make sure it comes out special and unique. This flower is made from metal, tulle, paper and felt. Here is how it’s done: 1.       Create a 6 petals flower shape from a piece of metal wire. 2.       Give it a little dimension by folding back the petals. Add a decorative button in the center. 3.       Add a few layers of tulle. 9i didn’t like the button in the center with the pink tulle so I changed it. 4.       Adhere the flower to a white felt flower. 5.       Add a dark pink paper flower as the final bottom layer. You can create this type of flower from any combination of …

101 Flowers Tutorial #11: Crochet and Paper combo

Here is another great flower tutorial! This time a combination of two materials I really like: paper and crochet yarn. This flower is a merger of the two materials, and when I say a merger I mean these two materials are connected to each other and can’t be separated, The paper petals are crochet to the flower center and not glued! Here are the instructions: (I initially tried it with fabric but the hole kept tearing so I replaced it with paper).   1.       6 chain stitches and close with a slip stitch. 2.       Row 1: 9 single crochet stitches and close with a slip stitch. The single crochet is not through the chain stitch but around it. 3.       Row 2: double crochet stitch, 2 chain stitched. Close with slip stitch. 4.       Cut 7 petals in two different sizes. Punch a hole on the bottom of each petal. 5.       Row 3: crochet the petals: take one large petal on top …

101 Flower Tutorial #9: Fall Cluster

Fall is in the air! It’s my second favorite season (the first one is winter). I love it when the skies turn grey, the leaves turn orange and yellow and the first drops of rain clean the streets. So, of course today’s flower tutorial is going to be all about fall. You can make this fall cluster for all your Thanksgiving cards and layout and you can make it in a larger scale as a center piece for your holiday table or to decorate the front door. 1. Take different size and color flowers and adhere them together. 2. Cut pieces of metal wire and swirl the edges. 3. Punch or cut leaves from yellow and orange scraps of paper and attach to the wire. 4. Attach the wires and some more leaves to the bottom of the flower. Have fun creating! Einat

HOW TO MAKE A DIY SPIRAL PAPER FLOWER

Inside: how to make a DIY spiral paper flower for scrapbook pages, cards and paper crafts   How many times did you need an embellishment for a project you were working on but didn’t have what you wanted? It was the wrong size, the wrong color or the wrong shape… there is nothing more annoying to stop working on a project because you don’t have what you need to finish it!     I never find myself in this situation because I make my own embellishments! I started doing that when I started scrapbooking because when I started there was simply nothing to use. The scrapbooking industry didn’t exist here and I could buy any papers or embellishments even if I wanted to… so I had to make what I needed. Since then it became kind of a personal challenge to be self sufficient when it comes to embellishments and I try to buy as little as I can …
