hi everyone Anette kler here with a new
0:12
video tutorial and today I'm going to
0:14
show you how to make a Victorian puzzle
0:17
card or letter so what you need is a
0:20
double-sided card stock and try to make
0:22
it a thin double-sided card stock
0:25
because there is a lot of folding
0:26
involved and we don't want the paper to
0:28
be too thick so we're going to start by
0:31
folding one corner to the opposite
0:36
corner create a diagonal fold going to
0:39
open it and do the exact same thing on
0:42
the other side so you'll have a big X on
0:46
your
0:49
paper I'm going to go slowly so you can
0:52
follow
0:53
along the next step
0:57
is I like to bring
1:00
uh my trimmer for it because it needs to
1:03
be exact what we're going to do is fold
1:07
it three ways so if you are doing it on
1:11
a 12x 12 piece of paper you need to
1:13
score at four
1:16
and8 so this way you'll have three
1:18
identical Parts you can eyeball
1:23
it but when it come to/ thirds it's a
1:26
little bit harder for me to eyeball it
1:28
so that's why I
1:30
use my trimmer or scoreboard so we're
1:32
going to turn it 90° and again score at
1:36
4 and
1:38
8 so you'll have a grid of nine
1:44
squares you can measure with a pencil
1:47
and draw a line if you don't have a
1:49
trimmer and a bone folder so now we can
1:51
go ahead and fold on those score lines
1:55
and it's really important to use a bone
1:57
folder or some kind of tool to really
2:00
burnish your folds cuz this is really
2:07
important for the movement of this
2:12
project so we're going to fold on the
2:15
other two
2:16
lines again creating a grid of nine
2:23
squares you can also make this with a
2:27
white card stock and then
2:30
add paints or drawings or doodlings or
2:33
whatever you
2:34
want so I'm going to turn it over to the
2:37
red side so you'll see better we're
2:39
going to now fold to these inside points
2:44
so you're going to take the corner and
2:46
fold it to the
2:49
opposite point where the
2:52
two lines
2:55
meet and then we're going to do that on
2:58
all four sides so the core
3:00
corner to the
3:02
opposite point where the two lines
3:06
meet the two score lines turn it again
3:10
we're going again the corner to this
3:16
point on all four
3:23
corners and then lastly
3:29
this corner
3:32
here and you see why I meant what I
3:35
meant when I said a thinner
3:38
paper cuz there is a lot of folding
3:41
here now we're going to create the
3:44
folding of the letter so please follow
3:47
along we're going to
3:50
fold from the top on the horizontal
3:53
score
3:55
line and then we're going to find the
3:58
middle
4:00
diagonal line and fold it this
4:07
way going to fold it to the inside and
4:10
then fold the right side along the
4:14
vertical fold line like this creating a
4:18
pointy part there on the
4:22
top then we're going to turn it 90°
4:25
again find the diagonal line fold it it
4:31
and then on the right side fold it along
4:36
the
4:37
vertical score line like
4:41
this it might be a little confusing but
4:44
after you do it a few times you get the
4:46
idea again follow the diagonal
4:49
line and then the vertical line like
4:54
this the last fold is a little bit
4:57
tricky we have to take out this is the
5:00
fold line the diagonal one we have to
5:04
take out the
5:06
inside like this take it out
5:10
completely don't be
5:15
scared so take that
5:19
out like
5:23
this and then you
5:27
have this fold like this then you can do
5:32
the exact same thing along the diagonal
5:34
line fold it
5:36
out so if you need just rewatch this
5:39
part a few times to figure out how to
5:42
make
5:44
it now you we're going to fold in all
5:47
the Four
5:50
Points the four pointy parts and we have
5:54
our
5:56
Victorian puzzle letter card or
6:00
whatever you want to call it and the
6:01
last one goes on the
6:04
inside not this part this inside part
6:10
here tuck it under here to close the
6:15
letter or the
6:19
card so now you know what I mean when I
6:22
say you can do it with the white paper
6:24
and then add all kinds of
6:27
embellishments it's best not to
6:30
glue anything on it if you want you can
6:33
draw paint or doodle this is how it
6:36
opens Isn't that cool now let's put
6:39
something in the middle for our message
6:42
this is the only part where you can
6:45
add extra paper to you can glue it
6:51
on so just cut a 4x4 piece of maybe
6:56
slightly less than four like 116th of an
6:59
an inch smaller than a 4x4 so it won't
7:03
interfere with the
7:06
folding so that the the center is the
7:08
only place where you can add extra
7:11
paper if you're doing this on a white
7:15
piece of card stock you will have to
7:19
embellish with
7:21
drawings paintings
7:24
doodlings colorings and things like that
7:28
because if you add paper it will
7:30
interfere with the
7:32
folding so that was slightly too big
7:35
just want to make sure
7:37
that cut it and see if it fits if not
7:40
make it slightly
7:44
smaller that's
7:47
perfect so I'm going to glue that and
7:50
then close it again so you'll be able to
7:52
see how we fold it
7:56
again just to make sure that you
8:00
get
8:03
it after you do it a few times you get
8:07
the
8:09
idea and any size of uh Square paper
8:13
will work you can make it bigger you can
8:15
make it
8:20
smaller this is how we fold it
8:24
back now let's take out that piece from
8:28
the inside
8:37
and fold it back now we can close it I
