hi everyone anat Kesler here with a new
0:13
video tutorial and today I'm going to
0:15
show you a really neat way to make
0:19
handwritten
0:21
letters uh Doodles and
0:25
such so I'm starting with a white page
0:29
and I'm simply creating a frame this is
0:33
just a simple doodling frame with curved
0:39
lines not something really complicated
0:43
just take your pen your black pen your
0:46
permanent black pen and just doodle
0:51
around the
0:53
page you can do this for your art
0:55
Journal you can practice this technique
0:58
for cards scrapbooking pages Bible
1:03
journaling just a planner whatever you
1:06
like you can even uh make a really
1:11
nice creation and frame it on the wall
1:14
with a beautiful quote so I'm just going
1:19
around the frame going over some lines
1:23
coloring some of the parts you can see
1:25
how it looks here adding a some
1:28
lines
1:30
camera is a little bit shaky today I'm
1:33
sorry then I'm going to take a brush
1:36
with some watercolor paper to create my
1:40
background I want to do the lettering on
1:43
a background on a colorful background
1:47
and I want to do
1:48
it instead of coloring the page after I
1:53
do the lettering I want to first start
1:55
with making the background so I also
1:58
Spritz the paper a little bit bit
2:00
because I am using watercolors so I want
2:03
my watercolors to flow really
2:08
smoothly and I'm just mixing some of the
2:12
colors directly on my
2:15
page blues and greens and
2:21
such I like this color
2:27
combination okay so once that's
2:29
completely dry we can go ahead and I can
2:33
show you the trick for making the
2:36
letters so when we make handwritten
2:38
letters we want them to have a dimension
2:42
or some kind of uh
2:45
addition so they will look really nice
2:48
so what I've done is I've taken two
2:50
pencils aligned them together so
2:53
there'll be the exact same length and
2:56
then tie them with some masking tape
3:01
so what will basically happen is when I
3:04
write I'll have two lines instead of one
3:07
because I'm using two pencils so this is
3:09
a really neat neat trick to make a 3D
3:14
letter like this it might take a little
3:17
bit of practice so you just might want
3:19
to do that just on a piece of scrap
3:22
paper just to see how you work with this
3:27
technique and
3:31
I'm going to try different angles
3:36
different designs of
3:40
letter so the top one was large
3:46
letters and then handwritten
3:49
letters so you have caps and you have
3:53
you can just play with it and
3:56
see where the lines take you but you can
4:00
see that you have two lines for each
4:02
letter and that is really cool so now
4:06
what I'm going to do is take a black
4:07
permanent marker and go over the
4:12
lines and then I'll have instant 3D
4:15
letters without trying to calculate
4:18
where the lines should
4:21
go sometimes it's really difficult to
4:24
know the angles of these things if you
4:26
want to add more Dimension to your
4:28
letters and by using those two pencils
4:31
trick it solves your problem so then you
4:35
can have really cool handwritten
4:41
letters and then I'm just going to color
4:45
in between those lines that I did with a
4:54
pencil I think it looks really really
4:57
cool and if you have places like on the
4:59
E that are not clear then just go back
5:04
to the angles on the other letters and
5:07
then complete the
5:11
line of course the um it's really hard
5:16
to do with smaller letters because the
5:19
space between the two pencils actually
5:22
dictates how large your letter will be
5:24
if you try to do to write small letters
5:27
with that it will not work so well
5:30
but after you master the idea behind it
5:33
you can just use one pencil and then
5:35
create the the second line
5:37
yourself this is just a trick to start
5:41
and
5:42
practice so you'll get the angles
5:46
right now that I have my letters written
5:49
I just want to start embellishing them a
5:51
little
5:52
bit and this is where the doodling comes
5:55
in so you can doodle with a black pen
6:01
add another line add some swirls some
6:07
letters uh not letters I'm sorry some uh
6:11
swirls
6:13
Doodles dots curved lines
6:17
Etc that come out of the letters or
6:21
surround
6:23
them so I'm making little hearts here on
6:28
the word lav inside the O A little swirl
6:33
and you can just use your imagination
6:37
to add details to each of the letters
6:41
and that will liven up the entire
6:47
thing so I'm adding some embellishments
6:51
little drawings little Doodles of
6:54
embellishments to the letters
6:58
themselves
6:59
it adds texture it adds
7:04
interest and again if you're not
7:06
comfortable doing it directly with a pen
7:09
you can go ahead and do that with a
7:10
pencil and then if you don't like it
7:12
just erase it and start over and then
7:15
after you're happy go over everything
7:18
that you added with your pen and work
7:21
with different sizes of
7:25
tips you can work with smaller or larger
7:29
tips and that will give you different
7:32
line thicknesses you can make them bold
7:36
Bolder or less bold and then that will
7:40
also add to the interest that you add
7:42
around each of the
7:44
letters so now I'm just adding some
7:50
Swirls and then introduce a new color so
7:53
I like to work with
7:55
white and then the white dots lines and
7:58
other details can go on the black and
8:01
that will look really
8:11
pretty so again adding some lines some
8:15
arches some
8:20
dots some sections that are colored you
8:24
can simply add whatever details that you
8:26
want on each of the letters
8:30
so I'm adding little hearts on the
8:34
letter itself opposite the black little
8:36
hearts these ones are
8:40
white adding swirls on the
8:44
letter
8:46
itself of course you don't have to work
8:48
with white you can use other colors if
8:51
you
8:53
want it's up to you what color scheme
8:56
you want
8:58
to to
9:02
do just add some
9:08
lines that enriches each of the letters
9:12
and that the lettering becomes the art
9:15
as
9:23
well okay so I'm just going to add a few
9:27
more details and then I think think I
9:29
want to add a little bit more color to
9:32
the background so remember we used a
9:35
permanent pen all the pens that we used
9:38
here need to be permanent because you
9:41
can always add things later if your pens
9:44
are permanent for example I want to add
9:47
a little bit of color with some more
9:50
watercolors and if my pens were not
9:52
permanent everything would smear
9:55
completely but since they're permanent
9:57
I'm not afraid to add add a little bit
9:59
more color
10:01
here so I'm just going to add some
10:03
purples I think
10:06
they again you can add any type of
10:09
embellishments that you want at this
10:11
point you can add stickers you can add
10:15
stenciling stamping again use permanent
10:20
inks or permanent markers or whatever
10:24
material you use try to make it
10:26
permanent you can also do this with
10:28
acrylic paint if you
10:31
want I'm just coloring between the
10:35
letters and adding a little bit more
10:40
color that will really blend
10:44
with the blues and the greens that are
10:47
already there and watercolor really
10:50
Blends well
10:52
so of course the watercolor is not
10:55
permanent so it reacts with the previous
10:57
layer of watercolors that is there and
11:00
that's why I can add it later and it
11:02
will blend really
11:05
pretty when it's
11:11
dry I think it looks really cool and of
11:14
course you can use whatever text you
11:15
want for
11:17
your project it can be a quote it can be
11:21
lyrics it can be a verse from the Bible
11:24
it can be whatever you
11:26
want to add or or even just to
11:33
practice so please don't forget to
11:36
subscribe to my channel and click on the
11:38

11:39
upload a new video so you won't miss
11:41
anything and you'll be able to follow
11:44
all the tutorials and make all the
11:46
projects and learn some new techniques
11:48
like this
11:50
one I really like doodling so for me
11:53
doodling letters is part of the doodling
11:57
process and this is just a way to teach
12:00
you how to add your handwriting to your
12:05
projects whether they'll be ar journal
12:07
pages
12:09
cards
12:11
planner mixed media projects
12:14
scrapbooking pages anything so I'm also
12:18
adding a little bit of paint to the
12:20
doodling in the
12:23
frame just to tie everything
12:27
together and I think it looks really
12:31
really pretty I'm turning the page
12:33
because I have a tendency to smear
12:35
everything so it just want to make sure
12:37
that I don't do this this don't do it
12:40
this
12:45
time make sure that I work outside of
12:49
the frame and not on the
12:56
frame let's add a little bit of color
12:59
here as
13:01
well and I
13:03
think I can almost call it
13:10
finished so I really hope you like this
13:12
tutorial and that you give this
13:14
technique a chance this trick with the
13:16
two pencils is really fun and
13:19
easy just try it so thank you very much
13:23
for joining me and I will see you next
13:27
time
