So many of you wanted to look inside the album and browse through its pages, so here it is…The first page opening the album is a special dedication that I wrote for him. In Hebrew it rhymes. Here’s the very loose translation: This is a special albumNot just a presentIt tells your storyin a different way. I asked questions, you answeredEvery answer turned to a pageYou discovered yourself through the pagesand designed by them. And between the pagesGreetings are hiddenFrom those who love youand wish you the stars. Mom. The next two pages show him as a baby. The journaling reads: 13 years ago you arrived to the world with a smile and magic curls. The world filled with light and love. The angles were smiling and so was I. A smile of a baby… The journaling is an answer to the question: “What makes you smile?” He answered: “Tickles, funny movies and thing I like. Make sure …
13 is a special age in Judaism, it marks the time when a boy becomes a man. Not in terms of getting married or going to work, but in knowing right from wrong and gaining adult privileges and responsibilities within the Jewish community. We recently celebrated our son’s Bar Mitzvah and it was emotional, exciting, happy, funny and amazing! I knew that for such a special day I would have to create a very special album. I decided to create it myself from beginning to end, cover, pages and all. I also wanted it to be different, not just childhood photos combined with congratulations from the family, but a new, original concept. So…my guidelines were: Hand made pages, cover and designNo photos – only cut out figuresOnly mixed media based scene layoutsEach congratulations start with “What I love about you is…”Album’s name: 13 years of magic Since it’s a little big and I want its moment in the spotlight to last …
Another beautiful sketch from sketchabilities that was so much fun to create. I recently found these photos of my son and I just had to scrap them! Sketch # 76 was just in time and had the fun and whimsical feeling that I was looking for. Join in the fun at Sketchabilities and enter your layout! Have fun creating! Einat
I’m so excited to design my first layout for Sketchabilities. They have beautiful sketches and here’s the first one. For this sketch I did an interactive layout with a small opening book. These are photos of my boys doing a balancing act on a small branch on the forest floor. You can also join the fun, just enter a layout done with this sketch #75 to the Sketchabilities blog!
I can’t believe my boy is almost 13 years old. This is a very important age in Judaism; this is the age when we celebrate the Bar Mitzva. This day symbolizes the day when a boy becomes a man. Here’s a layout I made capturing one of the things I love about him…making me laugh! I used a few funny photos of him throughout the years and added a few embellishments to give the layout a whimsy, funny mood. I also misted the paper a little to add a little color. Have fun creating! Einat
It’s time for another great, easy, fun flower tutorial. This time we’ll play with an easy mixed media technique and we’ll get wet…very appropriate for the summer! 1. You will need a piece of tissue paper. Spray the paper with water or glimmer mist if you want to add a little color. 2. When the paper is wet crumple the paper into a circle shape. Leave to dry. 3. After the flower is dry add a brad, rhinestone or bling in the center. Have fun creating! Einat
Today was the first day of school. I can’t believe time flies so quickly and my kids have grown so much. All of this has inspired me to create a layout about the first day of school. I used a Bo Bunny paper that had a door on it and created a scene of my son going “out” the door and off to school. I added handmade books and notebooks as well as layers of papers to emphasize and enhance the school theme. Have a wonderful school year and a lot of fun creating! Einat
