The best photos are those of family fun and experiences, and these photos are no different. Learning to ride a bike is a must experience for every growing boy and his father. I don’t know how I missed these ones and haven’t created a layout with them until today but better late than never! I usually create pages with one photo but this time I wanted to use all the photos, didn’t want to leave any of them out of the page. I started with creating a design triangle on the page with a little spraying and stamping. Then I layered pieces of patterned paper to create a frame for the photos. After I glued the photos to the layout I started the process of adding more color, texture and embellishments. I used different designs of stamps like dots, checkers and net and created a stamped collage on the background. Then I added some color with a little …

I have recently started a new art journal. It has a cover with images I don’t really like because they don’t have an artsy look. So I decided to create a new cover! I first had to cover the images that were on the journal so I painted it with three coats of gesso. Then I sprayed it with different colors using different stencils. Don’t forget to dry the layers when you work otherwise they will be one big blur. I added more color with Gelatos that I rubbed with my finger. Finally I added embellishments. Some of the embellishments were hand made with Mod Podge mold and melt. A really easy and fun technique to create your own embellishment. I didn’t just want to write art journal on the cover so I added a quote about art by Pablo Picasso with a pen nib and black ink. That is a great way to write on a treated surface like …

I always enjoyed stories especially when I was a child. I loved those magical fairytales about princesses, magic and witches and I still do today. However when I grew up a realized that sometimes life can be much more mysterious, wonderful and sometimes sad. I started my art journal page with a really fun technique of Gelatos water coloring. I colored the background with the colors of the rainbow and added some accents with darker shades of Gelatos. Then I added a stenciled image of a large tree branch with birds and add green leafs with Smooch, Gelatos and a fun distress ink technique using my fingers. I also added butterflies created with a stencil and a blend of different colors distress inks and a little stamping. Finally I added images cut from a Graphic 45 patterned paper and created a blurred look with some gesso that I rubbed with my fingers. That gave the art journal page a dreamy look …

You already know I love creating crafts with a steampunk look. This time I thought why not take it a little bit further and create a 3D craft which will have a steampunk style. Since I’ve been creating Father’s Day videos all week as part of a DT assignment I got that theme stuck in my head and decided to create a masculine project. I first covered a chipboard box with torn pieces of patterned paper. Then I started working on the steampunk metal man. I used an old car light bulb for the body and some flat head screws for the legs. I attached it all together making sure it’s balanced so the metal man could stand. I created the head from a bottle cap and the face from clock parts. I attached the head to the body and let it dry. Then I added the hands from the same screws as the legs and embellished the body with more clock parts and gears. …
