Time Flies Mixed Media Canvas

Hi dear crafty friends! Today I want to share my Time Flies Mixed Media Canvas and answer a question: how to make mixed media projects versatile? A lot of people ask me how do you come up with all these ideas and create a different project every time. Well.. here’s the answer:     Time Flies Mixed Media Canvas The short answer is that the techniques and materials stay the same but the theme changes. However the long answer is a little more complicated. When you create a mixed media project you need to think about three things: materials, techniques and theme. Once you’ve narrowed it down to one or two items in each of the three you can start working. For example in this canvas I used paper and chipboard, metallic paints and stencils as my supplies. I used stenciling, layering, color blending and painting as my techniques and the theme was time. I could have used the same …

Give Yourself Time Art Journal Page

Hi dear crafty friends! I haven’t shared an art journal page in awhile so today I’m happy to share my Give Yourself Time Art Journal Page. Some pages take time to create but some pages like this just make themselves 🙂     Give Yourself Time Art Journal Page The creative process for this page was easy. I wanted to create a page with a woman’s image on it. So I started with adding two colors of acrylic paints to the page. Next I took a white piece of watercolor paper and started adding layers of paint, stenciling and stamps. When I was happy with the result I cut out an image of a woman. I drew her by hand and didn’t care that she wasn’t perfect. Aren’t we all?…         I cut the image in two pieces and added them to the page. Then I started adding stamping doodling and some more paints. I also wrote …

Infinity card with Studio 75

Hi dear crafty friends! Today I want to share with you an Infinity card with Studio 75. This is one of my favorite cards to create because it’s really easy and has an amazing effect!     Infinity card with Studio 75 All you need to create this card is a piece of 6 x 12 double sided cardstock. That is enough for the base of the card and if you’re paper has nice pattern and vibrant colors then it will also be enough as the card itself. I added some more pieces of cardstock to embellish the card. You can also add stickers, letters cutouts and whatever you can think of. However make sure not to add to much height to your embellishments because that will interfere with the card opening and closing.           To create this card I used my favorite collection by Studio 75: Mrs & Mr collection. I love the colors and …

Create My Art Book

Hi dear crafty friends! Today I want to share with you how I Create My Art Book. I love creating art books and making them my own by working on each page and adding my own style and creativity. Here’s how I do it…       Create My Art Book An art book is basically an art journal that we create from scratch and is bound in a book form. The idea is to express ideas, feelings, dreams and fears on one hand and create art on the other on separate paper pieces in different sizes and patterns. Those pieces of papers are divided into signatures that are stitched together into a book. A signature is a group of about 2-3 folded papers. No art book is similar to another because each book is a representation or a mirror of its creator. I have already created two signatures in my art book. The first one is all about acrylic …

The Queen of Leftovers!

Hi dear crafty friends! I taught a mini album class recently and one of my student said I was the The Queen of Leftovers! She was amazed at how I used even the smallest leftovers to create inserts and to embellish the mini album. I thought about and realized that maybe I am The Queen of Leftovers! because I do challenge myself to use my leftovers 🙂 Here’s how I do it…     The Queen of Leftovers! 1. Kits Every once in a while I go through all my leftovers and create little kits with coordinating papers and embellishments. Once I match supplies together it’s much easier to find what to do with them! 2. List I have a list of possible projects I can create from my leftovers. Every time I get an idea I add it to the list. The items on the list are also related to the size of the leftovers which is something to consider …

Mini Album Secrets Revealed!

Hi dear crafty friends! Today all Mini Album Secrets Revealed! I get so many questions about how I create my mini albums and how I come up with all the ideas for the interactive mechanisms and inserts. I want to share with you my mini album secrets and let you have a glance at the process of making them.     Mini Album Secrets Revealed! 1. Plan! I always plan my mini album before I build it. It’s important especially when you want to create moving parts and make sure they work. You need to measure carefully and be precise even if it takes a little longer. The result is worth it! 2. Broaden your thought! When you create an interactive mechanism don’t just think about one mechanism like a flap or a pocket. Think about combinations. Create a flap, which is also a pocket, that opens up and has another pocket inside with a little flap insert. It’s basically …

Do You Love Boxes?

Hi dear crafty friends! I have one important question for you today… Do You Love Boxes? There are two types of people: those who see boxes as a practical thing to put stuff in and others, like me who just LOVE boxes! I don’t know why but I just love them. I love to buy them and even more I love to create them!     Do You Love Boxes? So I have compiled a list of a few boxes I created, all with tutorials of course! Steampunk Altered Boxes Chest Part of the magic of boxes is that they are the best thing to alter. You can paint them, cover them with paper or embellish them with anything. I attached three boxes together and altered them with sprays and lots of steampunk and metal embellishments. Click HERE for the full video tutorial.     Matchbox Vanity Boxes come in all shapes and sizes. Match boxes are boxes too and they …
