Inside: how to make an old cd into a cherished mini album
Raise your hand if you have old cd's in your house and many of them. Now that we use other technologies to listen to music those old cd's are just not needed anymore. So the question is what to do with them? There are many old cd crafts you can make starting from coasters and clock to wall hangings and mini albums.

HOW TO CUT OLD CDS FOR CRAFTS
Before crafting with your CDs, be aware that they are made of plastic with a metal film that is read by the CD player. This film can be removed by making a slit in the shiny material and then pulling it off with packaging tape or duct tape.
To cut your old CD to make something new, you can soften it by letting it sit in boiling or very hot water for ten minutes and then use strong scissors or gardening clippers to cut it into different shapes. If you are trying to be very precise, some crafters recommend using a Dremel, which is similar to a small, handheld drill.
You can also bend a Cd by heating it along the line you want it to bend and slowly bend it up to a 90 degrees angle.
HOW TO MAKE ART ON AN OLD CD
- Supplies needed: depending on the art you want to create you will first need to gather some supplies. These can be paint, paper markers and tools if you want to cut or scratch it.
- Cover the surface: you can leave the shiny surface of the cd or you can paint over it, colot it with markers, attach paper or fabric to it and even attach beads or metal objects.
- Add details: after the surface is covered and dried add details. You can draw or doodle, attach embellishments, flowers and photos. Adding texture with modeling paste or 3D objects will add to the artistic look. Another fun technique is to scratch the paint to reveal the shiny surface underneath.
