10 things you didn’t know about Passover

Today Jews around the world celebrate Passover, which is one of the most important holidays for Jews. For those who aren’t Jews Passover is that time once a year when their friends can’t eat pizza. But there is actually more to this holiday than what Jews can or can’t eat. This holiday is all about celebrating freedom, miracles and faith. Here is the story of Passover in a nutshell: After decades of slavery to the Egyptian pharaohs, God saw the Jews’ distress and sent Moses to Pharaoh with a message: “Send forth my people.” But despite numerous warnings, Pharaoh refused to heed God’s command. God then sent upon Egypt ten devastating plagues, afflicting them and destroying everything from their livestock to their crops. At the stroke of midnight of 15 Nissan (The Hebrew month coinciding with April) in the year 1313 BCE, God visited the last of the ten plagues on the Egyptians, killing all their firstborn. While doing so, God spared the …

Paper Folding Mini Album

This paper folding mini album is a really fun and easy project but with a surprising outcome. The fun part about it is once you get the hang of the folding you can make the album as long as you want. Each page of the mini album can fit one photo, so just make as many folded squares as you need. This paper folding mini album is a project you can finish in one evening! Paper Folding Mini AlbumYou need square double sided papers (I’m not using double sided but it’s nicer this way). The larger the papers the larger the mini album pages will be. You will also need the same amount of pattern papers quarter in size of large papers and a ribbon.Let’s get started!Fold a double sided paper in half. Then fold in half again.Open folds, turn paper a quarter turn and repeat folds. You should get a pattern of 12 squares.Fold corner to the center. Repeat with all …

Pop Up Book with Graphic 45

Spring is here and this DIY pop up book is just the right project for it! The book is full of magical spring scenes that are not only pretty they actually pop right out of the page in 3D! You know I love all kinds of paper projects but my favorites are 3D projects and pop-up book fits the bill. The book has three spreads, each one different with enchanting images from the Graphic 45 collection: Once Upon a Springtime. There are bunnies and fairies and lots of flowers and a general feeling of spring and fun.   This is part of my Graphic 45 audition: the final round video tutorial. So I hope you’ll like it but also the ladies at Graphic 45 who decide who will be on the design team. But even if I don’t get in, this pop-up book was really fun to create and I enjoyed every minute. And what’s even more important is that you got …

Watercolor Art Journal Page

This week’s video is watercolors art journal page. It is so easy to do, you only need a permanent black pen and watercolors. I used to be afraid of watercolors for a long time but I finally tried it and it’s great, much easier than I thought it would be. Just take a water brush or a regular brush, wet it in water and start playing! Watercolor Art Journal PageI started with doodling on the page with a black pen. It’s very important that you use a permanent waterproof pen that will not smear or bleed when you use the water colors. You don’t need to know how to draw. I certainly don’t! I just scribbled and doodled on the page like a two year old. What you need to create are shapes and spaces to color later with the water colors. The shapes don’t have to be accurate or symmetrical, they have to be fun and creative. Draw flowers, circles, …
