How To Draw a Face

As promised I’m sharing with you a video tutorial on How To Draw a Face. I realize that a step out photo tutorial is not as informative and clear as a video tutorial so here it is. Before you say that you can’t draw and this is too complicated let me tell you a little secret. Not too long ago I said exactly the same thing! I was sure that drawing a face was something beyond me and since I don’t know how to draw this is something I will never be able to do. I was wrong!     How To Draw a Face I don’t like to be wrong but in this case I was thrilled. Drawing a face is much easier than it looks and all you have to do is follow a few steps. Altered Playing Cards – part 2

We’re continuing with the Altered Playing Cards series and we’ll be exploring new mixed media techniques and ways to alter the playing cards into amazing pieces of art. Today we’ll alter 4 cards using different materials like gelatos, acrylic paints and distress inks. Don’t forget we are using the 52 power words list we created in the 52 word challenge where each one of you wrote 52 words that inspire you and empower you. Each card is matched with one word and is designed to correspond with that word.     Altered Playing Cards Each card is design according to my interpretation of the word and it might not “speak” to you. Feel free to change things and give each design your personal interpretation and style. The techniques and materials I use are for your inspiration and are meant to give you ideas and ways to alter the cards. Before you start don’t forget to cover all your playing cards …

5-Minute Craft: Pretty Envelope

Today on 5-Minute Craft: Pretty Envelope! This cute little envelope  can be created for almost anything you want, such as a cd, a card or even money. It’s pretty to be a gift wrap for any gift to someone special. It’s so easy to create you’ll not believe it! It takes even less than 5 minutes.     5-Minute Craft: Pretty Envelope All you need are four circles to create your envelope. The great thing is that you decide what size those circles will be. The larger the circles the larger the envelope and you’ll be able to fit larger things in it. The best thing is to cut the circles from a double sided cardstock so the inside will look as good as the outside. Use whatever circle cutting tool you have or draw a circle with a pencil and cut with your scissors. Once you cut the first circle you can use it as a template for the …

The Basics of Gelli Printing

I’m so excited to share with you The Basics of Gelli Printing! This is such a fun way of creating backgrounds, art journal pages and other mixed media projects that once you start it’s kind of hard to stop. In this video I will cover the basic techniques for gelli printing by using acrylic paints, stencils and found objects.     The basics of gelli printing Gelli printing sometimes has an unpredictable aspect. When you apply the paint on the gelli plate you never really know how it will look on paper. First of all it’s reverse and second you build layers that you don’t know how will look together once you are finished. Some people are uncomfortable with this lack of control and never tried gelli printing because of that. But I love it! I think that this is part of what art is about, use your imagination and accept whatever comes out.     The basics of gelli …

Watercolor Art Journal Page

This week’s video is watercolors art journal page. It is so easy to do, you only need a permanent black pen and watercolors. I used to be afraid of watercolors for a long time but I finally tried it and it’s great, much easier than I thought it would be. Just take a water brush or a regular brush, wet it in water and start playing!   Watercolor Art Journal Page I started with doodling on the page with a black pen. It’s very important that you use a permanent waterproof pen that will not smear or bleed when you use the water colors. You don’t need to know how to draw. I certainly don’t! I just scribbled and doodled on the page like a two year old. What you need to create are shapes and spaces to color later with the water colors. The shapes don’t have to be accurate or symmetrical, they have to be fun and creative. …
