Inside: how to use paper scraps to make embellishments for scrapbook pages, cards, art journals and more. I recently came to the realization that I have too many paper scraps. So instead of taking new papers for my projects I decided to try and use my paper scraps and reduce my pile. as it turned out it is not as difficult as I thought because once you challenge yourself to do something you come up with really creative ideas! Inside: how to make a DIY paper bookmark with a magnet When I was about 8 or 9 years old I used to read a lot of books, so many that I had a special position in the library. I was selected to be a special helper to the librarian and as part of my job I arranged books on shelves and mended torn books with masking tape – I guess I had good hands even back then 🙂 That job made me feel so important and accomplished and I think it was one of the most positive experiences I had as a child. Today I don’t read so much but books have a special place in my hearts. I could never read a book on Kindle or on the computer and if I do read a book its always a hard copy. If there is one thing I hate is that people mark their …

Inside: the best way to repeat an element on your art journal page Making art journal pages is for me not just a release or a therapeutic action it is also an opportunity to try new techniques an ideas. Recently I had an idea to make an art journal page with a repeat element that will appear on the page in a few different ways. So I challenged myself to come up with ways to do that and that was a really fun and creative exercise. REPEAT ELEMENT IN ART One of the most common elements in art is repeating elements. There are two ways to achieve that effect: REPETITION Repetition refers to one object or shape repeated – it can be any shape arranged on the page in any order or direction. Inside: what you need to know to hand stitch a journal cover I’m a paper hoarder with lots of craft paper of all kinds. Not only that but I also don’t throw many leftover paper so I have a lot of paper scraps too. I always challenge myself to use all these papers because it bothers me to have so much papers just sitting there… my latest idea was to create a junk journal with signatures from paper scraps and regular printing paper. DIY STITCHED BOOK COVER Traditional book binding is done with a needle and thread in many different ways. There are many different stitches you can sew a book or a journal cover but the most popular and easy method is sewn binding which is a strong, durable binding where inside pages are sewn together in sections or signatures. Inside: what is abstract painting and how you can make it without complicated techniques or artistic experience. I consider myself an artist but I have no formal artistic education and I don’t have an art degree or even traditional experience. Even though I don’t have all that I still call myself an artist because I make art and create it in my own way. The art I make might not follow the traditional rules or laws but it says something to me and that’s what matters. Making art is something everyone can do and I believe abstract art is the way to start! WHAT IS ABSTRACT PAINTING Abstract painting does not depict a person, place or thing in the natural world, even in an extremely distorted or exaggerated way. Therefore, the subject of the work is based on what you see: color, shapes, brushstrokes, size, scale and, in some cases, the process. HOW TO …
