Inside: 10 reasons you’ll want to make mini albums for your photos When I discovered mini albums a few years back I thought I discovered a treasure! I thought it was a genius solution for many of the issues I had with the large 12×12 scrapbook pages. I have to admit that since then I hardly made any layouts and I’m completely in love with the mini album concept. However I often get asked what’s the point? Why make mini albums instead of the traditional 12×12 pages? What are the benefits… why should I make them? WHY MAKE MINI ALBUMS MANAGEABLE PROJECT For some people, especially me, the thought of starting a big 12X12 scrapbook is just too overwhelming and time consuming. Just the thought of starting a large page, think about how to fit all these photos to one or two pages really discourages me from even starting. When I know there …

Inside: what happened when I decided to organize my craft paper stash and how I did it I went into my craft room all inspired to start working on a new project. A new scrapbook page idea was rolling in my head and I wanted to finally make it. It was just a matter of finding the right 12×12 cardstock to start my page. I started going through my piles of paper looking for that one specific page I knew I had… 20 minutes later… I couldn’t find it! The entire idea was based on that paper and once I couldn’t find it I lost my inspiration and ended up never making that scrapbook page. Sure.. I could have come up with another idea for that page but I just lost my crafty feeling… So what happened? MY CRAFT PAPER STASH IS TOO BIG What happened was I couldn’t craft because I wasn’t organized! We all …

The cool thing is, this doesn’t cost you any extra money! “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced” – Vincent Van Gogh I don’t have a formal artistic education… everything I know I taught myself. For many years i thought that if I don’t have that formal education I can’t paint… I even thought I have no right to paint because I don’t know how to do it, not properly. Boy!… was I wrong! THE MOST IMPORTANT PAINTING TIP Contrary to what people might think painting IS for EVERYONE and it’s much easier than you think. When …

Inside: how to start an art journal page and completing it like a pro every time Sometimes I sit in front of my art journal and just stare at the blank page not knowing where to go from here. Yes!… it happens to me too – I just have no idea how to start… I really hates when it happens to me so I tried to think what happens when I do know how to start and my creative process runs smoothly. I discovered that whenever I’m stuck and don’t know how to begin there are three things that work. HOW TO START AN ART JOURNAL PAGE There are three main ways to start an art journal page: CREATE THE BACKGROUND: this is the best way to go if you don’t have any other idea or direction. START WITH A TECHNIQUE: if there’s a technique you want to try or experiment with then it will be …

Inside: How to make a perpetual calendar to remember important dates I have a problem remembering important dates… I’m great with people’s faces but I can’t remember their birthdays, anniversaries etc. It’s embarrassing, I know… but it is what it is. So instead of fighting a loosing battle, I decided to make a perpetual calendar to help me remember. I could put the dates on my phone, but as a crafter I prefer the traditional, prettier way instead of having another reason to be glued to my phone… Lol Besides, after dropping my phone into the sea once, I’ve come to realize phones might not be the most dependable way 🙂 It’s that time of year again…the year closes and we need to get ready for the new year. That means organization! If you’re like me and have problem remembering dates, or even if you’re not like me and you want to be organized I have 3 DIY …

Inside: 12 ways to use distress inks in your craft projects When I first tried Distress Inks all those years ago I didn’t really understand what was all the noise about. But that was not because they were a bad product it was because I didn’t understand their potential and how to use them properly. Today when I teach or create Distress inks almost always find their way to my project. But until this day I get a lot of questions on how to use them and what you can do with them and most importantly what they are better than regular inks. WHAT ARE DISTRESS INKS They are water-based dye inks that have incredible color stability. Unlike other inks, Distress Inks react to water. It means that water doesn’t break down the color. Water also allows the ink to move on the paper. They are perfect for traditional ink techniques but their unique qualities …

Inside: everything you need to know about making a junk journal and what to do with them Everyday when I walk into my craft room I see my paper scraps drawer and I look away. I hate that drawer… it really bothers me that there is a pile of unused papers in it and I do nothing with them. So one day I decided to challenge myself to come up with a way to use at least some of them. What I came up with was a junk journal… actually a few of them! WHAT IS A JUNK JOURNAL There is no one definition of a junk journal and they can vary from person to person however there is one main thing that is common to all junk journals: they are all made from a mix of found and recycled materials. They are called junk journals because they are usually books or journals made from …
